Hand-Embroidered College Sweatshirts

Duration: 2 hours
Ages: 16+
Led by: Jessi Giblin (@byjessigray)

Heading to college in the fall (or know someone who is)? Come stitch your school spirit onto your favorite sweatshirt! This beginner-friendly embroidery workshop with Jessi Giblin of By Jessi Gray is the perfect way to celebrate what's ahead and make something completely your own.

In this class, you'll customize your own sweatshirt with your college name, team name, or any word or phrase that means something to you. Not sure what to stitch? Some favorite ideas include your school name (ex: Clemson) or go [team]! (ex: go buckeyes!), but make it your own! No embroidery experience is needed.

What you'll learn:

  • How to place and transfer a design onto your sweatshirt

  • Easy, beginner-friendly stitches used for lettering

  • How to finish your piece and keep stitching at home

What you'll make:

  • A one-of-a-kind hand-embroidered sweatshirt to rep your school!

IMPORTANT: You will bring your own sweatshirt to embroider. Cotton (or cotton blend) sweatshirts work best. Stretchy fabrics are not recommended and can be tricky to stitch.

What's provided:

  • A template with the word or phrase of your choosing (you can specify at registration)

  • Lots of thread colors to play with

  • All embroidery tools including needles, hoops, threaders and scissors

  • Step-by-step guidance so you never feel lost
