Bring Your Own Project
Duration: 2 hours (open house)
Ages: all ages
Led by: Locally Crafted Workshop (@createatlocallycrafted)
It’s been a few months (too long!) since we crafted together — bring your current project and join us for a few hours of creativity and camaraderie.
This FREE event is open to crafters of all kinds, so bring your in-progress project (or one you’ve been trying to find time to begin), and join our crafting community. It’s a the-more-the-merrier situation for sure.
Whether it’s knitting, papercrafts, junk journaling, needlework or jewelry-making, we’ve got a place for you in our space. Table space will be available, along with a few basic supplies like scissors, colored pencils and glue sticks, if you forget something. And feel free to bring a snack if that’s how you roll.
If you don’t have a project in progress but want to see what it’s all about, our Bead Bar will be open for business. For $12, it’s an all-you-can-bead situation, with a huge buffet of beads and basic bracelet-making supplies. We'll have some cute fall beads if you'd like to make a seasonal stack.
Joining us with your own project is FREE, but if you think you’re coming, grab a ticket so we know how many people to expect. Can't wait to craft with you!
Knitting Next Steps: Magic Loop
Duration: 2½ hours
Ages: 16+
Led by: Becky Sher (@createatlocallycrafted)
If you’ve been knitting for a while, you may have heard of Magic Loop, a technique that allows you to knit small-circumference projects in the round on a single long, circular needle. OK, that’s a lot of words. Basically, it’s a fun way to knit sleeves, socks, cup cozies, plush toys, mittens and all kinds of other things without using fiddly double-pointed needles. Magic Loop is a great tool to have in your knitting toolbox, and as a bonus, it will kind of make you feel like a magician. Plus, if socks are on your knitting to-do list, this technique is a great first step.
In this workshop, you’ll learn everything you need to know to confidently use Magic Loop. We’ll get started on a simple cup cozy pattern, so you can practice the technique on an actual project. You’ll learn how to cast on and get started (the hardest part of Magic Loop, TBH) and how to move from round to round. And we’ll discuss the (very few) things that might trip you up and how to avoid them.
NOTE: This is not a learn-to-knit workshop. You should be at least a confident beginner, able to cast on, knit and purl without a lot of assistance. But advanced knitters who have never tried the technique are absolutely encouraged to attend too!
All materials will be provided, including a 40-inch circular needle with interchangeable tips (a $17 value). That means that you can purchase other tips in different needle sizes for future Magic Loop projects. (Don’t worry, it will all become clear.)

Meet and Make: A Women's Craft Social
Duration: 2 hours
Ages: 18+
Led by: Locally Crafted Workshop (@createatlocallycrafted)
We’ve seen the connections that crafters are making spontaneously in our workshops, so we thought, “why not do it on purpose?” Making friends as an adult can be … tricky, but it’s a lot easier when you’re bonding over a fun, creative activity.
And that’s the goal behind our Meet and Make workshops. Our first one was a wonderful evening of crafting and connecting, so we'd like to continue to meet and make every other month or so. We invite you to come alone or bring a friend or two for some low-key crafting and chatting.
We'll do a quick (non-scary, non-embarrassing) icebreaker so we can all get to know each other. Then we’ll provide a simple craft project that you can accomplish while holding a conversation — at this session, our co-owner, Stacey, will teach the basics of mosaics, and everyone will create a pair of custom coasters. Enjoy a drink and a light snack, too.
This workshop is open to women ages 18+.
Crafting Kindness: Crochet Soap Sacks
Duration: 2 hours
Ages: all ages
Led by: Locally Crafted Workshop (@createatlocallycrafted)
It’s time to use our crafty skills for good! (Well, beyond the usual good of making us happy and keeping our brains busy.)
Let’s get together to crochet soap sacks for donation to shelters and other organizations that help people without homes or otherwise in need. Soap sacks are cotton pouches that hold a donated bar of soap — handy for keeping it protected, and they can also be used as a washcloth. They’re quick and easy to crochet, and a fun way to sharpen your skills and play with color.
We’ll provide 100 percent cotton yarn in a variety of colors, but if you have scraps lying around, bring them! (Yarn for soap sacks must be 100 percent cotton.) We’ll also have hooks for you to borrow, but BYOH (bring your own hook) if you prefer (you’ll need something in the size G to I range, depending on how tightly you crochet). And we’ll provide our favorite soap sack pattern for you to take home so you can keep making. Oh, and we’ll bring the soap!
While this is not a learn-to-crochet event, we’re happy to help confident beginners get started on their sacks. And if you don’t finish one during the event, or want to make more, you can bring your finished sacks back to us for shipping.
If you’re working on other charity projects, you’re welcome to bring those to work on. Or if you’ve already made soap sacks, bring them along and we’ll send them off. We’d also love to hear about other worthy causes to which you contribute your crafty talents. Let’s make Crafting Kindness a regular event.
The ticket price will help cover yarn, tags, soap and shipping costs to get the soap sacks to their final destination. Plus, we’ll have a little something for everyone as a thank-you for joining us.
Crocheters of all ages and abilities are welcome! (But kids under 12 should be accompanied by an adult.)

Mini Bookcases
Duration: 2 hours
Ages: 16 to adult
Led by: Locally Crafted Workshop (@createatlocallycrafted)
We’ve noticed that craft people often are also book people and that got us thinking … what if we combined two things we love? Introducing … LCW Book Club!
This isn’t your typical book club where everyone reads the same book and talks about it. And actually, it’s not even really a club at all because you don’t have to worry if you miss a “meeting.” It’s just a chance to get together for some casual book chat; activities like book swaps or reading recommendations; and most importantly — a book-themed craft project!
We’re starting our first meeting strong by making mini bookcases. You can design your shelves to commemorate some favorite reads or just create your dream reading nook, full of things that bring you joy.
This workshop includes:
A 5-by-5-inch bookcase ready for you to customize and embellish.
Lots of tiny books! We’ll have some mini versions of actual books — contemporary and classic — and some with plain or patterned decorative covers.
Miniature decorative items like coffee mugs and picture frames.
A buffet of supplies so you can embellish your shelves; create items like potted plants or flowers in vases; or whatever else you can dream up to make your perfect space.
Plus, you’re welcome to bring any tiny trinkets or photos to add your own touches.
We’ll also have some book-related conversation starters while you’re crafting, and a few snacks to fuel our evening. Here’s to the first of what we hope are many bookish, crafty meet-ups!

Meet and Make: A Women's Craft Social
Duration: 2 hours
Ages: Adults
Led by: Locally Crafted Workshop (@createatlocallycrafted)
We’ve seen the connections that crafters are making spontaneously in our workshops, so we thought, “why not do it on purpose?” Making friends as an adult can be … tricky, but it’s a lot easier when you’re bonding over a fun, creative activity.
And that’s the goal behind our Meet and Make workshops (hopefully an ongoing series if our community embraces the idea). We invite you to come alone or bring a friend or two for some low-key crafting and chatting. We’ll provide a simple craft project that you can accomplish while holding a conversation, along with a (non-scary, non-embarrassing) icebreaker so we can all get to know each other. Enjoy a drink and a light snack, too. If you make a friendly connection, awesome. If not, at least you got to craft. ;)
This workshop is open to women ages 18+.
