Kinusaiga

Duration: 3 hours
Ages: 10 and older (under 13 with an adult)
Led by: Stacey Hammer (@createatlocallycrafted)

Have you heard the buzz about the trending Japanese craft of Kinusaiga? Pronounced “key-new-sigh-ga,” this unique art form is like quilting with fabric — but no sewing involved!  You just carve a design into crafting foam and gently tuck fabric scraps into the grooves to bring your artwork to life.

During this three-hour workshop, you’ll get to choose from piles of colorful, patterned fabrics, along with a variety of pre-printed template designs. Prefer to make something completely unique? You can also create your own design from scratch.

With step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor, you’ll learn the techniques you need and then settle into the relaxing rhythm of creating. It’s creative, calming, and surprisingly easy to learn, making it the perfect hands-on activity for beginners and experienced crafters alike.

As your design takes shape, you’ll see how simple pieces of fabric can transform into a beautiful work of art. And the best part?  You’ll leave with a finished, framed piece of Kinusaiga art to take home and proudly display.
