Well, here we are … again. No school for MCPS on Friday, which means your stir-crazy kids (and maybe you too!) need something to do. With the weather and … everything, there’s a lot of pent-up energy around here.
How about a surprise Snow Day Open Studio in our workshop? From 1 to 4 p.m., we’ll set up a variety of open-ended projects to give everyone a chance to craft their energy out. Among the projects we’ll be offering are:
Bracelets at our Bead Bar.
Keychains and bag charms.
Disco ball collages.
Air-dry clay.
Dreamcatchers.
Button-making.
Coloring (not just for little kids!).
Finger knitting.
And whatever else we can conjure up!
This event is open to kids AND adults so if you need to get out of the house, come craft with us! Kids 8 and up may be dropped off, but under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone who plans to craft needs a ticket. Please purchase your ticket in advance so we can control the number of crafters!
A note from us: If you plan to drop off your kids, please have a conversation about respecting our space, materials and other crafters. We will not have a huge amount of staff, and while we want to offer this creative outlet, we need everyone to pitch in to make it a success.
And also … Streets and driveways at Rio are clear, but some surface lots have become holding zones for snow. If you typically park in surface lots, you may want to aim for one of the garages on this trip. And leave yourself a little extra time to park and walk to our workshop.
